The emergence of diverse students' organisations in Assam obviously became a source of inspiration for the Nepali students; they too became articulate and organized so as to derive benefits for their community. The gradual increase in the number of Nepali students in the academic institutions of the state also inspired them. The Nepali students' of Assam, in fact were on an organizational mode since the mid-forties of the twentieth century which eventually led to the formation of All Assam Nepali Students' Union (1976) with a promise of all round development of the community. Here, the inspiration came from the Darrang Nepali Students' Union, the premier organisation of the kind among the Nepalese which has made its own contribution towards the building of greater Assamese nationality.
